MiG-29K and P-8I Deployed in Ladakh Near LAC By Indian Navy – India’s Strong Message to China

P-8I and MiG-29K of Indian Navy is deployed in Ladakh near LAC. According to reports, MiG-29K will be stationed in the northern part of the country amid flaring border tensions with China, learned citing euraiantimes.

The Indian Navy has a fleet of more than 40 MiG-29K jets, of which 18 are deployed on the country’s lone aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya, and the rest are stationed in Goa.

According to reports, some of the MiG-29K jets are being shifted from Goa to IAF bases in the north, keeping in mind the security scenario, an official said. The IAF has moved various jets from airbases in north India to Ladakh sector as part of a plan to increase the military posture there.

Indian Navy’s P-8I surveillance aircraft are already carrying out numerous reconnaissance missions over Eastern Ladakh and addition of MiG-29K jets will add more firepower in the region.

“It is being planned to deploy the MiG-29K fighter aircraft at an Indian Air Force base in the northern sector. They might be used for carrying out operational flying in the Eastern Ladakh sector along the Line of Actual Control (LAC),” government sources told ANI.

The Indian Navy has a fleet of over 40 MiG-29K fighter jets that are deployed on the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya and carry out regular flying from the naval fighter base INS Hansa in Goa.

Recently, as EurAsian Times reported, the Indian Defense Ministry approved the acquisition of 33 new fighter jets including 21 MiG-29s from Russia.

Moscow will sell New Delhi 33 new fighter aircraft including 12 Su-30MKIs and 21 MiG-29s along with up-gradation of 59 MiG-29s. The MiG 29 procurement and up-gradation from Russia is estimated to cost Rs 7418 cr, the Su-30 MKI will be procured from HAL at an estimated cost of Rs 10,730 cr.
